On July 4th, in a lovely yurt next to old-growth forest, we will gather and learn about the bats of Edmonton. Cory Olson, coordinator of the Alberta Bat Program and Meghan Jacklin of The Edmonton and Area Land Trust will provide some teaching before we go into the forest to try and locate bats leaving their nests. We will learn how to use recording devices so that we can hear the bats communicate. Bats communicate in the ultrasonic range and usually go undetected.
